About the Role

Morningstar is hiring for the role of Senior Data Research Analyst within the Credit Ratings team. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong analytical background, knowledge of structured finance, and an interest in working with large financial datasets to support credit rating operations.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required (CFA preferred).

Experience & Skills

• 0–2 years of relevant financial data experience.
• Knowledge of Structured Finance, preferably within a rating agency.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of VBA/SQL/Python is a plus.
• Excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to think creatively.
• High attention to accuracy, quality, and detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, organize, and analyze data from internal and external sources to create performance analytical reports.
• Assist with document retention, downloading reports, collating data points, and supporting projects/initiatives as needed.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of loans collateralized by asset-backed securities (ABS).
• Collaborate with operations and technology teams to prioritize tasks and ensure smooth workflow.
• Identify opportunities to improve process efficiencies and suggest automations.
• Take ownership of deliverables with a focus on accuracy and quality.
• Demonstrate a strong learning curve and commitment to professional development.

About the Team

Morningstar DBRS Structured Credit Ratings team is a Nationally Recognized Statistical Ratings Organization (NRSRO) known for innovation and excellence in structured finance. The team aims to enhance market transparency and deliver high-quality ratings through data-driven research and technology solutions.
